A snowmobiler from Crawford Bay has been killed in an avalanche in the Gray Creek Pass on the east side of Kootenay Lake.

Nelson Search and Rescue and Kimberley Search and Rescue responded to the call Tuesday afternoon.

According to Nelson Search and Rescue, two snowmobilers were in the area when the slide occurred. While one of the snowmobilers managed to escape, the other was buried in the slide.
