Coroner: Ice, poor highway conditions factor in fatal MVI

The BC Coroners Service has identified the victim of a fatal head-on collision on the Trans-Canada Highway on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, 30, of Surrey, B.C., was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving collided head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer. The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. near Albert Canyon, about 34 kilometres east of Revelstoke.

"Road conditions were noted to be poor, with ice and snow on the roadway at the time," stated Larry Marzinzik, Regional Coroner for the B.C. Interior Region. "The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate his death."
