Update: Revelstoke $20 million 6/49 winner
Check your Lotto 6/49 tickets everyone – the winning ticket for Wednesday's $20.2 million jackpot was purchased right here in Revelstoke.
According to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, the winning numbers for the Oct. 30 6/49 lottery are 4, 9, 24, 41, 47 and 48.
Only one winning ticket was bought in Canada, meaning the winner gets the entire $20,223,182 jackpot.
Even though the winning ticket was bought in Revelstoke, it is possible the ticket was purchased by someone passing through town. A BC Lottery Corporation spokesperson said that is rarely the case.
The news has created a buzz around town. Several people were at the counter getting their tickets checked at Mackenzie Avenue lottery ticket retailer Malone's on Thursday morning. No winner had turned up there.
"I can't remember the last time someone [in B.C.] won this much," the BCLC spokesperson said.
He said the winner would have to go the BCLC office in Kamloops or Vancouver to claim their winnings. At that point, the press would be notified, interviews arranged and photos taken.
A winner has one year to claim their prize, so it could be a long time before their identity is known. "It can be anti-climatic that way," said the spokesperson.
