According to the RCMP, a woman was assaulted while attempting to get into her vehicle in an alleyway on the 1600 block of Third Street West at around 9 p.m. on Dec. 31.

"The suspect grabbed the victim's arms as she opened the driver side door of her vehicle," stated Cpl. Thomas Blakney. "As the victim tried to get away from the suspect's grasp, she fell to her knees. The suspect then pushed the victim from behind in an attempt to push her to the ground.

"Fortunately, a neighbour had startled the suspect, who fled in an easterly direction down the back alley."

He was wearing dark coloured jeans with white stitching on the pant legs and pant pockets, a black toque, a short black heavy style jacket, and light coloured winter boots with laces.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
