A man with a knife was arrested following a confrontation in Southside on Sunday.

RCMP were called to a report of a man wielding a hunting knife and yelling at a group of people in the area of Victoria Road and 4th Street at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.

Police located the group involved but they were not forthcoming with information, the RCMP said.

RCMP patrolled the area and eventually located the man. "The 25-year-old Revelstoke resident indicated that he had been confronted by a male with a club and was just defending himself," said Staff-Sgt. Jacquie Olsen.

He was taken to the drunk tank and kept there for the night. Alcohol and drugs are believed to be involved in the incident.

RCMP credited information from residents for helping with the investigation of the incident. Charges are being considered.
