Adelheid Bender announced her resignation as executive director of the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce after four months in the position.

"I came out of retirement to help the Chamber during a time they needed to someone to fill the ED position as I believed in the value to the community of this organization," Bender said in an e-mail to Chamber members. "It was always meant to be a short term position for me and I now find I must move on as I have other commitments that must take up more of my time."

Bender handed her resignation to the Board of Directors on Monday. Her last day of work will be this Friday, Jan. 20.

Chamber President Brydon Roe said the move was expected. "We always knew that she was temporary and we took her expertise as a real bonus to the Chamber for the time that she could help us," he said. "It was in the cards that she would be stepping now."

He said a job posting for a replacement would be going up shortly and that the Chamber was looking to fill the position, "as soon as we can with the best possible candidate."

Bender joined the Chamber after the previous executive director John Devitt was let go.
