Trans-Canada closed between Revelstoke and Golden due to collision
The Trans-Canada Highway is closed between Revelstoke and Golden following a head on collision just east of the Rogers Pass summit.
The crash happened sometime just after noon today. Drive BC is forecasting the highway will be closed until at least 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29.
The closure is in addition to ongoing avalanche control work today. Delays of up to two hours are forecast for the avalanche work.
According to an unconfirmed report, there were three vehicles involved.
The section of highway has been plagued with closures over the past few days. It was closed for avalanche control from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 28. There was intermittent avalanche control on Dec. 27.
It was closed for several hours on the morning of Dec. 29 after three transport trucks were involved in a crash east of the Rogers Pass summit. That closure lasted from about 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.
There were no injuries in that crash, according to a Golden RCMP spokesperson.
A warm, wet weather system moved through the area on Dec. 28, dumping rain and snow on the Columbia region.
