Firefighters entering stair climb for BC Lung Association

Four Revelstoke volunteer firefighters are planning on taking part in the stair climb at the Clean Air Firefighter Challenge in Vancouver next weekend.

The challenge takes place at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel in downtown Vancouver on Sunday, Mar. 3. The event raises money for the BC Lung Association and goes towards medical research, asthma education, clean air initiatives and anti-smoking programs.

Representing Revelstoke will be Tyrel Gregg, Mike Sihvo, James Bacon and James MacDonald.

For the stair climb, firefighters will climb 48 floors in full firefighter gear while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus and breathing bottled air. To train, the Revelstoke firefighters have been climbing the six stories of the Revelstoke hose tower eight times, three days per week for the past month.
